Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge in Jimmy Choo

Way way back in March last year, I did a post on the leg lengthening benefits of nude/near nude coloured shoes. As we know from the former Kate Middletons tour of Canada and America, she loves neutral coloured shoes (sure makes packing a lot easier for whoever does it for her) I don't like Katie's clutch but otherwise this outfit is one of my favourite from the recent tour. The Duchess of Cambridge wears a Roksanda Ilinic dress and Jimmy Choo shoes (they are the lovely shoes and the official colour of them is powder pink).

She might officially be called the "Duchess of Cambridge" but I suspect the Queen gave her that title to minimize the media obsession with comparing her to Princess Diana, no matter her title though we know The Duchess of Cambridge is a Princess and this dress proves it. The Alexander McQueen dress looks like it came straight of a story book, Catherine wears "vamp" Jimmy Choo shoes in Champagne Glitter. Fun fashion fact, before Tamara Mellon found Jimmy Choo, he was working away in his studio making shoes for the likes of Princess Diana.

Here's our princess with her Prince and her Jimmy Choo shoes on her feet. While she was in LA, she and her husband attended the "BAFTA Brits to watch event" - which of course could have been a great time for her to wear an emerging British designer as opposed to a very well established one (McQueen), and I always do have a giggle when she wears McQueen, because McQueen himself started out with an anti-establishment vibe & now the new creative director Sarah Burton seems to be on Kate's speed dial.

Despite how much we want Catherine to be a fashion icon like Diana she just isn't, frankly I think she feels like she's above the whole thing. She clearly likes clothes and likes to look well but that's it. She has a classy elegant style and no matter how much the press pushes her, I don't think she'll change, we'll just have to accept that she is who she is and she's going to stay that way. Aside from her obsession with weird looking clutches and that fact that she doesn't seem to care to support young unknown talent from Britain (which bugs me), I actually don't mind her classic style too much. I think all she wants to do is be a good member of the Royal Family, not cause any problems, have a good marraige and a nice family and I think her style clearly reflects all those things. Occasionally she will "wow" us but for the most part she will just be vanilla.
