Who? Sarah Belhasa, Indah Brown, Nadia Zaal ( I think, otherwise it was her doppelganger), Dina El Gamal, Louise Foster & a lot of people from Oman Air.
What? Caroline Castigliano & Jimmy Choo fashion show at the Shangri-La
Wear? Less people in white than I thought, Katie Cole Watson in an amazing lacy Erdem dress, Nadia Rouchdy in a fab “eye catching” clutch and Miriam Hodge looking uber fabulous in pears & black and white.
Well, this is the fanciest pants event I’ve been to for a while, or to put it in the words of the Mondanite photographer “yes, this is a good event – good people for the magazine”. The most enormous wedding cake ever was in the entrance, then we headed into the foyer for some Moet, after everyone stood around long enough to see and be seen we headed in for “Dinner with Jimmy”.
When I took my photo with Jimmy Choo he noticed my fake diamond aldo ring that I always wear on my right hand. He either said “nice diamonds” (which I highly doubt) or “he needs to buy you real diamonds” – referring to Mr. Hellwafashion. I was too nervous to pick up exactly what he said, but on my wedding day you can be guaranteed my speech is start with “you are all here today because the world’s most fantastic couture shoe designer thought this would be a great idea”, claim to fame? Yes I think so.
Anyhooo choo was as lovely as Manolo, and his “couture by Jimmy Choo” shoes are lovely too. During our truly amazing six course dinner we were treated to Caroline Castigliano’s bridal show, what I loved about the show was that it started with black dresses, when everyone was expecting white.
Quote of the night: Upon seeing models strut their stuff with their hands in the pockets of their wedding dresses, a certain gentleman who will remain nameless said to me : “That dress is for you, it’s perfect for someone who wants to walk themselves down the aisle”
Feminism, fashion, fizz and fabulous food, I was one happy hellwafashionista.
